Biology And Its Branches
Biology
Definition :
Biology is the life of science the word biology comes from two Greek word "bio" mean life and "logos"study. It explorers The structures, functions and interactions of living organism.
Major fields of biology
Biology is a vast field that explores the incredible diversity of life on earth. To better understand this complexity, scientist have divided biology into three main fields.
(1)Zoology
It is study of animals including their structure function behaviour and diversity.
(2)Botany
It is study of plants including their structure growth reproduction and instructions with their environment.
(3)Microbiology
Micro the study of microorganisms such as bacteria and microscopic fungi is called microbiology it including the study of the structure function habitats and reproduction of microorganisms and their impact on health and environment.
Branches are sub- field of biology
Biology is divided into different branches to better understand the aspect of life.
Morphology
Is the study of of the form and structure of organisms. Morphology studies the outward appearance ( shape, colour, pattern etc )as well as internal structure, like organ.
Anatomy
Is the branch of biology that explore the internal physical structure of organisms particularly humans. It helps in disease diagnosis medicals devices development and improving quality of life .For example the study of organ of the digestive system.
Physiology
Is the branch of biology that deal with the functioning of body part. For example how the blood circulatory system transport vital substances through -out the body.
Histology
Histology is the microscopic study of tissues
Tissues are group of cells that has similar functions. Tissue examination helps in studies diagnosis, drug studies and understanding organ structure and function
Embryology
Embrology is the study of process of development of organism form fertilized egg. In this branch, scientist study tissue and organ formation, identify birth defects and develop medical treatments.
Taxonomy
Taxonomy is the branch of biology that deal with the classification of organism into groups on the basis of similarities and differences. Classification of organisms help to organism and understand the diversity life identified new species and study evolutionary relationship.
Palaeontology
Palaeontology is the branch of biology that deals with the study of fossils. The examination of fossils help scientist to know the evolutionary history of organisms. For example dinosaur fossils provide evidence of a against reptiles that roamed the earth millions of a year ago.
Microbiology
Microbiology deal with the study of biological molecules like carbohydrate, protein ,lipid, and nucleic acids. Molecular biology also study for fundamental life processes, 12 drugs and create a genetically modified organism.
Ecology
Ecology is the branch of biology that deals with the relationship between organisms and their environment. Ecology helps to conserve biodiversity and address environmental problems.
pathology
Is the study of diseases their causes and effects. Pathology helps in diseases diagnosis prevention and treatment. For example pathology study how the uncontrolled vision and spread of cells causes Cancer.
Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the branch in which we study drugs and their effects on the body. This helps in the development of new drugs. For example new antibiotics are developed that are used to kill bacteria and treat bacterial infection.
Immunology
Immunology is the branch in which we study the components of immune system and their role against diseases. Immunologist study to develop vaccines, treat auto immune disease and improve immune response to infections.
